Helena Outdoor Wilderness Learning (HOWL) is Helena’s
best, affordable, and outdoor camp.
Our outdoor youth summer day camp will inspire your kids to explore Helena’s surrounding mountains, rivers, and lakes.

The Mission of HOWL is to provide youth and adults with positive outdoor experiences so that each may grow as individuals and find a passion in the great outdoors. We are an experiential program where campers will get to hike, bike, swim, and raft each week. We hope they can then pursue these activities with their families or even later in life.

Safety

At HOWL, safety is our number one concern. As such we have many tools and methods to keep your campers and students safe while outdoors. 

Each guide is required to have previous outdoor youth experience, CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification, and pass a background check before they are hired. CPR and Wilderness First Aid certifications take 20 hours of hands-on class time to complete and are geared towards the adventures we do here at HOWL.

We also send every group out with a first-aid kit, maps of the daily activities, bear spray for each guide, and a communication beacon (SPOT gen X) in case of emergencies. For water-based activities everyone will be required to wear Personal Flotation Devices (PFD’s) while in the water or floating and throw bag will be carried.
